Why We Separated Software from Marketplace Listing
Here's a decision that sounds small but shapes a lot of how Colenva works: using our software and appearing on our marketplace are two entirely separate choices.

Here's a decision that sounds small but shapes a lot of how Colenva works: using our software and appearing on our marketplace are two entirely separate choices.
Most platforms don't offer this. Sign up for practice software, and you're often pushed into a public listing as part of the deal, whether you wanted the visibility or not. We didn't think that was fair to the doctors and clinics we're building for.
Why we didn't bundle it
Not every doctor wants to be discovered by new patients through a marketplace. Some have a full patient base already and just want better software to run their practice. Others are actively looking to grow and want the visibility. Both are completely valid, and neither should be forced into the other's shape.
What this looks like in practice
A doctor or clinic using Colenva OS can run their entire practice, appointments, records, prescriptions, billing, without ever appearing in patient-facing search or discovery. If and when they want new patients to find them, that's a setting they switch on, not a package they were signed up for by default.
It's also reversible
This isn't a one-time decision made at sign-up. A provider can turn discovery on or off whenever it makes sense for their practice. Software-only today doesn't mean software-only forever, and listed today doesn't mean locked into being listed.
Why this matters beyond convenience
This decision reflects something bigger about how we think about the platform: Colenva is meant to be useful to a provider on its own merits, not just as a funnel into a marketplace. If our software isn't good enough to stand alone, the marketplace shouldn't be the thing propping it up.
We'd rather earn a provider's trust with the tool itself, and let visibility be their choice.
